Stanford Profile
Soledad Artiz Prillaman is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Stanford University, the faculty director of the Inclusive Democracy and Development Lab, and a 2021-2022 SIL Design Fellow.
Her research lies at the intersections of comparative political economy, development, and gender, with a focus in South Asia. She leads the team conducting the Elevating Women’s Voices in Policymaking in India research project, a Stage 1 investment and a 2025 Stage 2 investment.
As a 2021-22 SIL Design Fellow, her research project (description below) focused on representation of marginalized people in South Asia policy decisions.
Women, indigenous tribes, and other marginalized populations in South Asia are underrepresented in political spaces, which limits their voice in policy-making. This contributes to persistent and intractable inequalities in policy access and social outcomes. Prillaman is working with Saad Gulzar and partners in South Asia to design interventions that promote the voice of marginalized communities in the policymaking process.
