Telehealth and health equity: Socioeconomically disadvantaged communities have historically suffered from a lack of adequate access to health care and, as a consequence, experienced worse clinical outcomes for a range of chronic diseases including Type 2 diabetes, a disease which hits with particular prevalence among these same populations. How can we optimize clinic operations to take advantage of novel sensing technology (e.g. continuous glucose monitoring) and innovations in telehealth to deliver improved care to Type 2 diabetic patients in underserved communities?
