State-society interaction in migration governance: Responses to global migration involve a mix of state policies and various relations and practices among state and civil society actors at local levels. With a focus on labor migration in Southeast Asia and refugee resettlement in the United States, my research aims to understand how state-society interactions throughout migration governance processes affect the livelihoods, security, and integration of migrants and their families.
