Latinx families face significant socioeconomic challenges which impact their health and wellbeing, and have been linked to disproportionate rates of chronic conditions, cancer, infectious diseases, and overall morbidity and mortality. Models that include promotoras or Community Health Workers (CHWs) have gained attention as a promising strategy and innovative workforce model to mitigate health inequities and address social determinants of health. Professor Rodriguez Espinosa will work with community-based organizations to strengthen social service delivery models and advance policies and solutions that improve Latinx population health.
