2024-2025 DESIGN FELLOW, PROFESSOR, LAW
Stanford Profile
Department: Law
Like many small, poor, majority-minority cities in the American South, the city of Jackson, Mississippi has a broken relationship with its state government. The stakes of this conflict are higher than ever as Jackson (again, like other smaller Southern cities) struggles to rebuild its obsolete water system, adapt the city’s schools to dramatic population loss, and cope with deepening poverty. Professor Anderson will work with Jackson’s civic sector, local government, and historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) to co-create a shared understanding of the history and opportunities for addressing the city’s needs.
Michelle Wilde Anderson’s Design Fellowship is sponsored by the Stanford Institute for Advancing Just Societies and the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability.
