Malathi Balasundaram

Dr. Balasundaram is a Clinical Associate Professor at Stanford University and a staff neonatologist at El Camino Health. She is the El Camino Health NICU Family-Centered Care committee chair and actively leads a number of subcommittees to improve NICU quality goals. Her guiding vision is for all NICUs to provide safe and quality neonatal care in an environment that supports the integration of families as equal partners in the care team. She formed the Family-Centered Care (FCC) Taskforce by recruiting passionate trainees, neonatologists, staff, and family partners in Feb 2022. The FCC Taskforce has now grown to a community of 1000+ individuals, representing more than 250 NICUs from 36 states and 16 countries. She is a member of the statewide California Perinatal Quality Care Collaborative (CPQCC) Perinatal Quality Improvement Executive panel (PQIP).
