Dr. Linda Darling-Hammond is the Charles E. Ducommun Professor of Education Emeritus at Stanford, CEO of the Learning Policy Institute, and President of the California State Board of Education. Dr. Darling-Hammond founded the Stanford Center for Opportunity Policy in Education; is past president of AERA, and recipient of its awards for Distinguished Contributions to Research, Lifetime Achievement, and Research-to-Policy; and member of the National Academy of Education and the American Association of Arts and Sciences. From 1994–2001, she was executive director of the National Commission on Teaching and America’s Future. In 2006, Dr. Darling-Hammond was named one of the nation’s ten most influential people affecting educational policy. In 2008, she led President Obama’s education-policy transition team. Dr. Darling-Hammond will support Lifting the Bar by facilitating relationships with education leaders and advancing policy and practice implications.
