Hi, I’m Belle. I am a civil engineer by training but try to take an interdisciplinary approach to my work. This summer I will be continuing to work on my PhD research that is part of the Billington Lab’s focus on affordable housing. My focus will be on collecting data from a series of online surveys and setting up a lab-based eye tracking system for supplemental in-person experiments. This will all be aimed at understanding how the context (usage and designation) of a building impacts the general public’s assessments of attractiveness and acceptance of affordable housing. If possible, I would also like to start building connections with affordable housing developers and advocacy groups to support future research examining the existing urban landscape in the San Francisco Bay Area for its potential to increase affordable housing units.
