Inefficiencies in resource allocation to address social and environmental challenges: From inefficiencies in informal supply chains to wastage of food despite widespread food insecurity, many of the fundamental issues faced by society stem from inequitable allocation of scarce resources and lack of access to information about opportunities that could improve, for example, quality education and humane employment. Our goal is to bring algorithmic systems tools to bear on pressing social and environmental challenges across the global south.
