Stanford Profile

AI & data science to detect human trafficking in supply chains: An estimated 50 million people worldwide are held in modern slavery. The absence of transparent, linked micro-level supply chain data and effective regulatory auditing tools hinders enforcement efforts, leaving many exploitative suppliers undetected. As part of the Stanford Human Trafficking Data Lab, Haojie partners with frontline stakeholders to build AI- and data-driven systems that integrate geospatial big data to trace supply chain networks and flag suppliers at high risk of labor trafficking, delivering actionable intelligence for regulatory enforcement and corporate accountability.

Haojie also develops GeoAI approaches for population health monitoring, natural hazard forecasting, and advancing understanding of how environmental risks interact with human health.

Haojie Wang joins Stanford as a postdoctoral fellow from 2025-2026.
