Disability or limited proficiency in the language in which school tests are administered may prevent students with special needs from fully demonstrating their knowledge or skills. As a result, tests may underestimate these students’ academic achievement—which limits their access to advanced courses and other opportunities to learn. Professor Solano-Flores will work with school districts and assessment organizations to improve accessibility of standardized tests.
