Antero Garcia is an Associate Professor in the Graduate School of Education at Stanford University and Vice President of the National Council of Teachers of English. His research explores the possibilities of speculative imagination and healing in educational research. 

Antero is the co-editor of La Cuenta, an online publication centering the voices and perspectives of individuals labeled undocumented in the U.S.

In his work with the Stanford History Education Group, a Stage 2 SIL investment, Antero and team partnered with school districts in Chicago and Los Angeles to develop research-tested Civic Online Reasoning materials for specific subject areas tailored to the needs of students in each district.

As a Stanford Impact Labs design fellow, Antero worked in partnership with local schools on an project designed to explore how historically marginalized youth participate civically and to excavate the pathways and barriers shaping civic learning within schools.
