Alyce S. Adams
PROFESSOR, EPIDEMIOLOGY AND POPULATION HEALTH, HEALTH POLICY; 2025-2026 DESIGN FELLOW
Stanford Profile
Alyce S. Adams is a health services and policy researcher seeking to understand and address disparities in chronic disease treatment outcomes among older adults. Her ongoing studies leverage big data and advanced analytic methods to identify and address modifiable determinants of suboptimal treatment outcomes. She is the Stanford Medicine Innovation Professor, a Professor at the Stanford School of Medicine in the Departments of Epidemiology and Population Health, Health Policy, and (by courtesy) Pediatrics.
As a 2025-26 Stanford Impact Labs Design Fellow, Professor Adams will address the challenge of diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) or nerve damage associated with diabetes, which is on the rise. Native Hawaiians and Pacific islanders who live in Hawaii experience a high burden of diabetes and DPN. Early identification and intervention have the potential to improve population health and to reduce disparities. Professor Adams will work with the Queen’s Health System in Hawaii to implement novel AI-based detection and monitoring approaches for DPN.
