Alex Chohlas-Wood is the faculty co-director of the Computational Policy Lab (CPL) and is an Assistant Professor of Computational Social Science at New York University. His work focuses on using technology and data science to support criminal justice reform. Alex previously served as the director of analytics at the New York City Police Department.
Leveraging advances in data science, CPL studies the impact of policy choices at unprecedented scales, and builds algorithmic tools to guide high-stakes decisions in criminal justice, education, voting rights, and beyond. The lab is the recipient of two Stage 2 investments from Stanford Impact Labs.
