Alba is an Assistant Professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. As a SIL postdoctoral scholar, her research examined the inequities women face in attaining political leadership positions by analyzing how leaders' attitudes and characteristics shape women's inclusion in politics and government. Combining observational and experimental data, her work demonstrated that the dynamics of government negotiations contribute significantly to the gender gap in top political roles, affecting the substantive representation of diverse constituencies.
