Ilana Shumsky

Ilana (“Lonnie”) Shumsky, MD, is an internal medicine physician and educator who has spent over two decades caring for patients and training medical students and residents, an experience that deepened her interest in how people seek and trust information. After completing a two-year Stanford Distinguished Careers Institute fellowship in 2023, she joined the Stanford Social Media Lab as an advisor.  She focuses on the creation of community partnerships to foster and disseminate skills in digital literacy and information discernment.
