I am working on a project in Northern Nigeria which tests an intervention aimed at reducing gender disparities in education. Our proposed intervention reframes education in alignment with cultural values and shows its intergenerational value for the community. We will be collecting data from parents in communities around Abuja, Nigeria where schools are available, but enrollment of girls is significantly less than that of boys. So far, we have benefitted from the support of the Universal Basic Education Board in Abuja who helped us identify these communities. This project is at the core of my intended dissertation research.
