Gender inequality in the workplace: Research shows that progress towards gender equality has dramatically stalled in recent decades. In the VMware Women’s Leadership Innovation Lab, Kiersten studies gender inequality in the workplace, focusing on how gender shapes people’s perceptions and experiences at work. Her research examines these dynamics at both the macro and interactional level. For example, she investigates how occupations are valued and rewarded based on whether they are male- or female-dominated, as well as how the men and women within those occupations are perceived and treated by others.
