Enhancing governance through AI-powered deliberation platforms: Polarization, low civic participation, and weak institutions undermine progress, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. José Ramón's research addresses these challenges through deliberation.io, an open-source platform that combines AI-mediated Socratic dialogue with real-time opinion mapping to help citizens scrutinize their assumptions and identify areas of consensus. Through a series of field experiments, this work aims to demonstrate how and when AI-assisted deliberation can broaden representation and accelerate evidence-based policy adoption, ultimately generating scalable tools that rebuild institutional trust and promote shared prosperity.
