2023-2024 POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW, VMWARE WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP INNOVATION LAB

VMware Women’s Leadership Innovation Lab

Centered at the intersection of gender and race, Ashley takes a critical perspective on whiteness and white supremacy. By applying social psychological theory and using an intersectional feminist lens, Ashley critiques previous literature along with her research questions, methods, and interpretations. Ashley aims to capture the psychological processes of specific subgroups, including both prejudice and discrimination among those in power and experiences of specific marginalized groups. Ashley addressed racialized and gendered organizational processes in her dissertation by testing the validity of commonly used sexual harassment scales—that take a gender-only approach to measuring harassment—among women of color. Ashley is beginning to test equity-related social psychological interventions aimed at documenting the conditions in which White people, especially White women, are psychologically threatened by issues around race and racism.

Ashley Bennett joins Stanford as a postdoctoral fellow from 2023-2025.
