Stanford Profile

Alyce S. Adams is the Stanford Medicine Innovation Professor and a Professor in the Departments of Health Policy, Epidemiology and Population Health, and, by courtesy, Pediatrics - Endocrinology at the Stanford School of Medicine. Dr. Adams also serves as Associate Chair for Partnership and Community Engagement for the Department of Health Policy at Stanford, and as Co-Director of the Diabetes Research and Engagement through Advanced Multilevel Science Center for Diabetes Translational Research (DREAMS-CDTR). A health services and policy researcher with more than 25 years of experience, she is passionate about the ability of interdisciplinary, stakeholder-engaged research to inform health system and policy level solutions to improve chronic disease treatment outcomes and reduce disparities.

As a 2025-26 Stanford Impact Labs Design Fellow, Dr. Adams worked with the Queen’s Health System in Hawaii to implement novel AI-based detection and monitoring approaches for diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) or nerve damage associated with diabetes. Native Hawaiians and Pacific islanders who live in Hawaii experience a high burden of diabetes and DPN. Early identification and intervention have the potential to improve population health and to reduce disparities.

Alyce S. Adams' Design Fellowship was sponsored by the Stanford Institute for Advancing Just Societies.
