Dialogues on Democracy: Conversations at Scale Using AI

This project led by Christopher Dann was awarded a fast grant for AI-enabled research in 2026. It makes use of a AI-enabled conversational survey and interviewer to follow up on standard survey questions about democracy with adaptive conversations. The goal is to go beyond simple yes/no and rating-scale answers to understand how citizens reason about democracy and draw out the motivations, interpretations, and tradeoffs that inform the answers.
