Accelerating Impact
How We Support Funded Teams
When Stanford Impact Labs (SIL) makes an investment in a research team, we also provide strategic support to the scholars and their collaborators as they jointly define questions, gather background information, design studies, interpret results, and scale up impact.
Though SIL’s portfolio includes a range of impact areas and fields, funded teams often face similar challenges in ensuring their research insights produce tangible impact. To that end, our strategic support includes help with:
Developing and strengthening partnerships beyond the university
The work of addressing social challenges benefits from close engagement with critical stakeholders who are affected by the issues at hand, as well as those who may not be directly affected but who have the ability to influence change. Therefore, we facilitate strategic conversations, convene partners, and provide resources to funded teams as they build trust with collaborators, develop opportunities for mutual benefit, and draw on multiple perspectives and capabilities.
Pursuing impact at scale
Because the path to scaling the impact of an insight or solution is rarely linear, we develop frameworks and provide implementation tools that accelerate funded teams as they set an ambitious vision, position their research within a broader ecosystem, and pivot and adapt when necessary.
Building strong teams and organizations
Even the greatest ideas can struggle to gain traction without effective implementation. We work carefully with funded teams to align resources, strengthen their capacity, and build systems to keep projects on track and enable nimble response when unexpected obstacles inevitably arise.
Our strategic support for funded teams prioritizes these three core ambitions. Our current offerings include: group workshops, individualized coaching and consulting, workshop design and facilitation for internal and external gatherings, landscape mapping, outreach strategy, and referrals and knowledge-sharing.
