Small-scale fishing communities sustain the livelihoods of 1 in 12 people globally. Yet, these communities face mounting threats from climate change, overfishing, and inequitable development. Collective action and advocacy can help these fishers secure access to vital resources and become effective stewards of their ecosystems. Professor Basurto will work with partners in Mexico to build stronger, self-sustaining fishing organizations.
