Stanford Profile

Department: Graduate School of Education

Rural-to-urban migration in Latin America is accelerating as extreme land inequality and a school system oriented toward urban jobs push young people out of the countryside. Agroecological education offers an alternative path, but its impact on youth trajectories and land use remains poorly documented. Professor Tarlau will work with partners to support the development of youth programs that equip young people with the knowledge and skills they need to live a dignified life in rural settings and transition to more sustainable agricultural production.
