Website

Claire Adida is a Faculty Co-Director of Stanford's Immigration Policy Lab (IPL) and a Senior Fellow at Stanford's Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI). Her research focus is in comparative politics and the study of immigrant exclusion and ethnic politics.

As part of the 2026-27 SIL Design Fellowship, Professor Adida will focus on shifts in U.S. immigration enforcement that have turned traditional migrant-sending and transit countries into new destinations for refugees, deportees, and returnees, just as humanitarian funding to support them has collapsed. Governments are piloting reintegration programs with little evidence on what actually works in their context. Professor Adida will partner with organizations including the International Rescue Committee (IRC) and Mercy Corps to evaluate whether and how livelihood interventions should be adapted to effectively serve these newly displaced populations.
